Thinking about Steve Agee’s photos of Andy Samberg from the Flaming Hot Cheeto restaurant pop up again!!! The comments were speculating that this is the gig where they MET.

andysanberg:

“That’s the weird thing about him, is that he is smarter than everyone in the room, but he has that ability to speak in a way that everyone can understand, so it’s never smarter than the room.” - Nick Kroll

when you’re the greatest musician of the 21st century but you’re married to the i’m on a boat guy

“music legend in her own right” as if andy samberg is himself a music legend, which he is

anyway, like joan didion said, you have to regularly go back, look through your old journals and photos, and remind yourself what a dumbass you were, are, and always will be

A couple of years ago I heard Jason Mantzoukas on a podcast talking about how he keeps a log of all the media he consumes because he heard that Steven Soderbergh does it, and I love him.

I keep track of the tv and movies I watch, the books I read, and the live shows I go to. I tried to track podcasts for a while, but it was too unwieldy. Maybe I’ll try again this year.

Here are my highlights (what if this is what tumblr is now. I’m revolutionising blogging):

  • I saw 21 new release films at the cinema
  • I saw 14 old films at the cinema (mostly at the Astor, god bless her)
  • I watched 31 films at home (or someone else’s home) that were new to me (I’m really trying to fill gaps in my film knowledge)
  • I watched 18 films I’d seen before in my home or someone else’s
  • I read about 30 books - there were a couple I started but wasn’t interested in finishing, hence the rough number. I really thought I’d fallen behind in reading this year, but that’s pretty respectable.
  • I only saw 10 live shows: 4 gigs, 3 MSO performances, 2 comedy shows and 1 opera. I’d like to get that number up.

I like keeping this list! It helps me feel like I’ve done Something with my year (stop quantifying your leisure time!!!), and helps me remember what I’ve consumed and liked when people ask for recommendations. End post.
